BMR Dual Cyclone Engine Oil/Evap Separator

Have you ever had a report of smoke from your tail pipes? Been black flagged for smoke? Or restarted your car after a break and had a giant plume of smoke? Do you feel the car is slowing after a long hot summer session on track? What is causing this is the stock oil separator overloads and spills condensed oil into the vent system. The vent system goes to the intake manifold, which is where the oil goes and then gets burned. Then you get the plume of smoke and a dilution of the octane of your fuel causing the knock sensors to retard the timing to keep the engine from melting pistons.

When Caymans reach high g forces in extended corners the engine oil gets trapped in the cylinder heads due to the centrifugal force. Caymans that have one or more modifications are particularly vulnerable; mods like: sticky tires, larger tires and rims, PSS10 or stiffer suspension, larger than stock sway bars, or even just lowering the ride height. Combine this with an aggressive driver and sections of tracks like the Glen's, uphill Esses, Road America's Carousel, Lime Rock's no name straight, and the issue is compounded. The result is that the stock oil separator used for the street gets overloaded with oil mixed with crankcase vapors. The load simply exceeds the design capabilities. The solution is that on all of our customer Caymans and our track Caymans we install Porsche Motorsport's dual cyclone separator. It's quite a project and requires rerouting and relocating the secondary air pump, but when it's done, the problem is gone forever. This is another one of our reliability upgrades, but perhaps one of the most important as it allows the engine to continually operate at its peak. This modification insures that the engine can handle the rigors and forces that are common on the race track.

BMR CS Oil Sump

Also available is our crankcase oil system modification. Under racing or DE conditions oil in the oil pan can move around quite violently. The oil moves side to side, sloshing around causing some brands of oil to foam. Air can then get trapped and sucked in the oil pump. Also oil can be trapped under high g-forces in parts of the oil pan failing to be picked up by the oil pump and starving the engine. Bodymotion installs in the BMR CS and many customer cars a high capacity Porsche Motorsport oil sump, a revised oil pan with baffling. This helps the pressurized oil from sloshing and causing air to be sucked into the oil pump as well as preventing starvation. This is a straightforward installation of the oil pan and modifications to the oil passages and returns. This modification is performed separate from the oil breather, but is best done in tandem with the separator modification.

BMR Underdrive Pulley System

This lightweight underdrive pulley system features a new crankshaft pulley made out of 6061-T6 aluminum. By replacing the stock crankshaft pulley with a smaller one made of light weight aluminum we are able to free up horsepower from the engine by reducing the drag that is put on it by systems such as the power steering pump, A/C condenser, alternator, and water pump. This coupled with its lightweight aluminum construction helps reduce the moment of inertia and helps the engine to run and rev more freely than with the stock steel pulley. In addition on our track only Caymans we have developed and installed an underdrive pulley for the power steering pump. This pulley slows the rotation of the power steering pump a total of 30% over the stock. And this is the same pulley run on all of the GrandAm GS 911s. We couple the underdrive pulley system with a high strength motorsport serpentine belt. This belt features high modulus construction which builds less heat and allows for the belt to remain more compliant. Providing assurance that it will not break and cause failure while on track of the water pump or other belt driven accessories.

BMR Exclusive Fabspeed SS Exhaust w/Headers

Bodymotion in conjunction with Fabspeed has developed an exclusive new stainless steel exhaust system. This is a system developed exclusively for the track and features race catalytic converters, deletion of the rear muffler, and an available exclusive long tube header design to help increase engine torque and power. Constructed of high strength stainless steel this system is light and strong and sure to last through the rigors of track use. It has a great throaty sound and really helps open up the engine and let it breathe. An option for this system is a 98db rear muffler section for use at tracks like Lime Rock.
